Duration/credits
After you have successfully completed the Assessment Year, the Major in Business Administration will provide you with more in-depth knowledge of a variety of issues related to the management of organisations. Bachelor’s studies will amount to 120 credits and are spread over four semesters.
Grades below 4.0 result in so-called negative weighted credit points (NWCPs). To pass the Major in Business Administration , a maximum of 18 NWCPs may be achieved, of which a maximum of 10 NWCPs in the compulsory area, which comprises all compulsory courses including the Capstone Project.
Semester information about individual courses is only by way of recommendation. Particularly if you plan to go on exchange semesters, it may be sensible to attend the courses in a different order.
Core studies
In compulsory subjects (64 ECTS) you will have to attend courses in Business Administration, Economics and Law. This is supplemented by subjects from the core electives (4-20 ECTS) from among the range of courses in Business Administration.
In core elective subjects (0-16 ECTS) you can either attend further courses in Business Administration to be chosen from the wide range of options in this field, or you can complement your curriculum with courses from other majors. Thus you will be able to shape your studies with offers from the core electives and electives according to your own individual preferences – either through a portfolio of courses drawn from a wide variety of disciplines or through focusing on courses from a certain subject area of Business Administration.
Contextual studies
In contextual studies (24 ECTS) you will have a large selection of non-core-related courses (incl. language courses), which will enable you to broaden your horizon.
Bachelor’s thesis
Your Bachelor’s thesis (12 ECTS) is an academic paper. It will provide you with an opportunity to examine an issue from a subject area of your own choice in more depth. In your Bachelor's thesis you will be using pertinent research designs and principles.
Capstone Project
In the Capstone Project (8 ECTS) you work in a team on the application of a real problem of an established company, and you will try to arrive at a proposal for a solution through research, surveys and innovative ideas. This will enable you to apply your theoretical knowledge in practice, to get a taste of practical experience as a "business consultant", and to acquire some experience that will be relevant to your later career.
You will be supervised by one of our experienced faculty members, who will be on hand with help and advice and support you with suggestions and tips. The Capstone Project will start with a joint kick off event and will conclude with a presentation in a joint closing event before the management of the company concerned.
